The climb, a steady ascent through well graded paths, meets the acclimatization needs, but some parts in the Khumbu glaciers can be really tricky and tough for even the most experienced. The main attraction of the trekking is the morning sunrise view of the snow capped peaks above the Khumbu glacier.

The trek begins with a scenic flight from Kathmandu to the famous airport of Lukla.  After spending a few days in Namche Bazaar and other Sherpa settlements, the trail moves forward after acclimatizing to the higher grounds. 2. Gokyo Pass Cho la Trek Everest Gokyo Chola Pass Trek

The trek provides the ultimate trekking experience as it covers the entire upper Khumbu region. This trek is famous for its proximity to the Everest, but also because it provides a hands- on opportunity to experience the Sherpa lifestyle, colorful settlements with entertaining festivals, quiet monasteries as well as a chance to see the Himalayan wildlife with exotic animals and birds and even the mystical legendary yeti remains and stories.

The trekking is a bit demanding as it covers a wide area from Gokyo Lake and the Cho la pass at 5330m to the Khumbu region above Lobuje. But the trek is rewarding as you get to absorb the magnificence of 4 out of the 10 highest mountains in the world including Cho Oyu, Makalu, Lhotse and Everest. This is a high altitude trek that requires proper acclimatization process. The massifs of Cho Oyu and Gyachung Kang surround the Gokyo valley with its glaciers, turquoise lakes and scenic mountains. This trek is a challenging one best suited for experienced mountaineers trying to experience every adventure the region has to offer.

3. Three Passes Everest Trek

Everest High Pass trek is the perfect trekking experience for those seeking to cross the high passes without the technical climbing.  This trek passes through the 3 famous passes of the Everest region: Renjo La pass, Kongma La pass and the Cho La pass further linked to the different valleys in the region. It also provides an optional route to visit the Gokyo Lake, Kala Patthar, Ngozumpa glacier and the Khumbu region. An excursion to the 4th and 5th lakes of the Gokyo valley provides mesmerizing views of the valley. To reach the Renjo- la pass, a path off the beaten trail is taken which provides a wonderful sight of the Gokyo Lake on one side, the Remro Pokhari lakes on the other side and numerous peaks in the background.

This is a quite challenging trek to even the most intrepid of climbers, but allows one to make a complete circuit of the Everest region. The trek demands physical fitness and determination, but lets you into a journey of a lifetime that will fulfill your craving for nature, adventure and life.

4. Gokyo Ri Trekking

This shorter and isolated trek route provides a glimpse into the Himalayan region as more than just the home to some of the highest peaks in the world. The valley is the collection of turquoise lakes, moonscape-like glaciers and mountain vistas. This Everest trek ventures the Gokyo valley which provides a mesmerizing 360 degree view of the entire Khumbu region like no other.

The cobalt blue lakes invite you to the Gokyo valley which after a 3 hour hike takes you to the Gokyo village at the foot of the Gokyo Ri (18,300 ft) which is a huge black mound of rock and dirt. This trek gives the opportunity to indulge in the life of the Sherpa people and their warm hospitality while capturing the astounding views of the lakes, glaciers and spiritual feel of the monasteries.  The highlight of the trek is a 3 hour long hike up to the highest vantage point of Gokyo Ri (5350 m) which includes the sight of 4 majestic mountains – Everest, Lhotse, Cho Oyu and Makalu along with the Ngozumpa glacier – all in one panorama. The view of the tremendous ice ridge between the Cho Oyu and Gyachung provides a dramatic and spellbinding view.

5. Everest Jiri Trek / Classic Everest Trekking Three Passes Everest Trek II

This trek also known as the classic trek was used by Tenzing Norgay and Edmund Hillary to make the first successful summit when there was no airport in Lukla.  The trail passes through a quiet and isolated route from Jiri through the Lamajura pass in the upper Khumbu region with uninterrupted views of the majestic mountains.  The route differs from other treks in the aspect that it traverses many Brahmin, Chhetri and Rai settlements across the Lamajura pass to enter the Sherpa dominated territories.  Also the trek provides the view of mountains like Gauri-Shanker, Kwangde, Twache, Ama Dablam, Thamserku and others that may be missed in other trekking routes.  This trek is also famous for a hike up to the Tengboche monastery, the verdant terraces, mountain waterfalls and lovely mountain sceneries as it passes through landscapes covered with rhododendron, magnolia and giant firs. This month long adventure from Jiri to the Everest base camp is best suited for the elite mountaineers who love to walk and explore the exquisite beauty as well as the culture of the Everest trekking region.

6. Everest Short Trek

While some like to take the rush all the way and go on an expedition to the summit of the world, some with a  tight time schedule and physical constraints can opt for really short trek to this enigmatic land.
