Bungmati and Khokana Tour

Bungmati and Khokana Tour explores the Bungmati village is 10 km south of Kathmandu. It is a traditional Newari village incredibly rich in culture, language, art and architecture. People who live here have been practicing their skill or trade, which has been passed down for generations, for most of their lives and they always greet you with a smile. This village represents 30 years back of Kathmandu. There are many Hindu and Buddhist temples and monasteries in Bungamati village, one of the most popular temple is Rato Matsyendranath known as “God of Rain”. Rato Matsyendranath festival is famous in lalitpur which is celebrated in second week of June. After a few minutes walk another popular temple known karya vinayak dedicated to another famous Hindu god Ganesh.

Khokana is situated 20 minutes walking distance from Bungmati village. Old Newari settlement of khokana village is famous for producing Mustard oil. Many people from this village depend on agriculture and can see farming and life style of local people. The main temple of this village is Shekali Mai which is a two storied construction. The temple of Rudrayani is the major religious site and ponds have also equally religious importance.
