We pick you up in the morning with our Local Leader/guide to the Domestic airport for the incomparable first scenic flight. We fly from Kathmandu to Lukla (2827m). The flight itself is exciting. We fly parallel to the Himalayan giants bordering Nepal and Tibetan side of China. Flight time is about 40 minutes and we land at an airstrip built by Sir Edmund Hillary and the Sherpas in the mid-1960s. After landing we meet our porters who will carry our equipment during our trek. We also have time to explore the village before hitting the trail. The trek starts with a descent towards the Dudh Kosi River, passing through the many lucky prayers stones and prayer flags where we join the main trail to Namche Bazaar and to the great areas of the Adventure destinations. (Dudh means ‘milk’ – the waters of the river are a strong milky white from glacial melt.) The walk is easy and after passing through the small village of Chheplung (2650), Ghat (2550m), we soon reach our lodge at Phakding. Our guides and porters will be happy to accompany you for the side walks and visiting local people around or rest reading books and exchanging new card games. (3 hrs)
We start the day from Phakding and cross the river to walk through tracts of blue pine and rhododendron forest that is very spectacular in the spring, when the flowers are in bloom. We cross the Dudh Kosi river at the end of Phakdingma staying on the east and west bank of the river, enjoy great views of the snow-capped peaks of Kusum Kanguru (6369m) and Thamserku (6623m). From here it is only a short walk to Monjo (2835m), where we arrive in time for lunch. Then the walking gets a little tougher and includes a steep ascent to Namche Bazaar. It is a short walk to the entrance of the national park, where our permits are checked before we descend quite steeply to again cross the Dudh Kosi to Jorsale (2805m). The trek continues upstream on generally flat terrain, crossing back to the right bank, to the confluence of the Bhote Kosi and Dudh Kosi rivers. After crossing a large and stable suspension bridge high above the river we climb steeply to the village of Namche Bazaar. A slow and steady pace is recommended on this section of the climb and we are encouraged to make the most of the fantastic photographic opportunities as the peaks of Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse and Taweche come into view for the first time. You may notice you are travelling a little more slowly as the effects of altitude start to become apparent. Take your time on this path which is used by the local peoples as a ‘foot highway’ on this important trading route. At Namche we stay in a lodge in the heart of the village. (6:30 hrs)
We stay at Namche for a second night to allow us proper acclimatization to the high altitude and to enable full exploration of the town and its surrounds. Namche is a prosperous village, situated in a large, protected hollow. It gained its importance during the period when Tibetan salt was traded for the lowland grains of Nepal. Today quite an amount of trade continues at Namche and Tibetans are sometimes seen in the village trading rugs and Chinese-made goods, clothing, salt and dried meat. It is recommended that you take the opportunity to see both the sunrise and sunset views from the national park headquarters above the village. The panorama can be stunning at both times of the day with a superb view of the Khumbu peaks, including great sightings of Everest. After breakfast there are various options, including a walk with a series of great peaks rearing to well over 6,000 meters just to the west. Alternatively you can visit the national park headquarters to see the interesting displays of Sherpa lifestyle and culture. Your guides will be on hand to offer advice and to escort you on the walks. Another option is the steep climb out of the village bowl to the flatter areas around and above Shyangboche, Everest View Hotel where beautiful views of Everest, Amadablam, Lhotse, Tawoche, Peak 38, Thamsherku abound.
Our route of today to Tengboche weaves in and out of side valleys, making small ups and downs, to the teashops of Kenjoma, and joins the trail from Khumjung just before a collection of mani stones. The views of Everest and Ama Dablam are excellent from this part of the trek. We pass the small settlement of Sanasa from where the trail drops towards Phunki Thanga (3250m). From here the trail climbs steeply through forests and around mani stones as it follows the side of a hill to the saddle on which the monestary of Tengboche sits at 3870m. The view from here is rightly deemed to be one of the worlds most magnificent. Kwangde (6187m), Tawachee (6542m), Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse (8501m), Ama Dablan, Kantega and Thamserku provide an inspiring panorama of Himalayan giants. We will spend the night in Tengboche village (5 hrs).
From Tengboche we descend steeply to the suspension bridge at Phunkitenga and after a lunch break we cross the Dudh Kosi and ascend to Tashinga. From here the trail contours high above the valley through Shanasa before arriving at Kyangjuma, where we stay for the continues view spot. ( 5:30hrs)
It is a downhill walk from Kyangjuma to Monjo via Namche , but we are probably all in good shape by now. From Namche, we will descent steeply back to the Dudh Kosi river and continue our way past the national park checkpoint at Monjo. We stay near the around the checkpoint (4 hrs)
It’s about three hours last day walking to Lukla. We walk along the River Dudh Koshi again and take a final uphills from Chheplung to Lukla. It’s our last night where you never like to miss final chatting with our Guide and Porters.
We take an early morning flight to Kathmandu which is stunning as flight to Luklas. Leisure Time in Kathmandu. It’s indeed time for the souvenir hunting around Kathmandu’s noted places having optional trip to tranquil historic Heritages in your own or with us or with our versatile guide. We provide extra drive and drop services anywhere
Our morning transport from Kathmandu takes us all the way through to Dunche, which lies on the east bank high above the Trishuli River. Beginning the trek from here allows us to cover some of the best trekking country in Nepal, where relatively few foreign trekkers visit.
The route to Syabrubeshi follows the road upto a ridge at 1800, then continues for a short distance to Tamang Village of Thulo Bharkhu..About 100 m from the village the road crosses a small stream with some water –driven mills. The hike gets delightful through occasional pine and Rhododendron forests.
After a short climb, the trail reaches a ridge crest at 2300, where the trek originally enters the Langtang valley. There are views of Snow peaks in Tibet, west to Ganesh Himal and east t oNaya Kangri and Ganja la peaks. Short, steep downhills through the Bamboo forests leads to Syabru at 2100m. (3 hrs)
After leaving our hotel we cross the Bhote Kosi River by a suspension bridge towards ‘old’ Syabrubesi, a cluster of houses and a school opposite the river. Another suspension bridge carries us over the south side of the Langtang Khola, this river we will be following upwards for the next couple of days. We climb slowly to Doman (1680m) and continue over a rocky ridge to Landslide Lodge and Hot Spring restaurant; named after a small hot spring on the opposite river bank at 1810 meter. The trail now climbs gently up to Bamboo Lodge where we will enjoy our lunch. Opposite the river we will see near vertical cliffs covered with cactuses. After Bamboo we cross the Langtang Khola on a new suspension bridge to the north bank. The forest becomes sparser and drier on this side of the river, consisting mainly of scrub oaks and nettles. We climb steeply on a good trail to Rimche (2510m). We have now finished most of today’s climbing and descend slowly to our selected teahouse where we will spend the night (6 hrs).
The day starts with a gentle climb, but it soon becomes steeper, climbing through a forest of hemlocks, oaks, maples and rhododendron. Beautiful views of Langtang Lirung (7246m) can be seen from the trail. After little more then an hour we pass two lodges in the forest at Gumanchok (2800m), from where we climb to a Nepal army post and a national park checkpoint at Ghora Tabela (2970m). The trail asvends gradually, as the valley becomes wider. We will pass a few teashops at Thangshyap at 3140 meter, where we will have our lunch. The route is now in open country, and passes many mani stones, water-driven prayer wheels and a few scattered Tamang villages before arriving in Langtang. This is a small village consisting of guesthouses and yak farms. The surrounding fields containing buckwheat, potatoes, wheat, turnips and barley have typical stone fencing walls (5 hrs).
Walking through the village of Langtang we will pass many stone mani walls, covered with Tibetan inscriptions to please the gods. It then climbs up gradually past the small villages of Mumdu and Sindum. The trail continues through yak pastures. After crossing the Langtang Khola to its south bank we climb up through a landscape scattered with large boulders to a moraine where we will have the first views of Kyanjin Gompa ahead of us, and the dramatic icefall flowing from Langtang Lirung and Langtang Kinshung (6781m) north of us. Our route weaves through the large boulders to a gompa and from here it’s a short descent to Kyanjin Gompa. It is easy to reach our destination before lunch, allowing time to acclimatize and explore the surroundings. One of the options is a hike to one of the good viewpoints. To the north of Kyanjin Gompa is the Kyanjin Ri (4773m), which is a two-hour climb. From here we have a great view over the mountain range in the west, including Langshisha Ri (6370m), Gang Chhenpo (6388m) and Dorje Lakpa (6966m) (3 hrs, to the viewpoint and back is about another 3 hrs).
Today we stay in Kyajin Gompa to explore a bit more of the Langtang valley. Our trail descends a little to the old abandoned VTOL airstrip, and then follows the river upstream to some herders’ huts at Jatang (3840m). We will continue to climb slowly up the valley until we are surrounded by the mountain amphitheatre with Langshisha Ri, Langshisha Kharka and Dorje Lakpa towering high above us. We will descent vack to Kyajin Gompa after our lunch.
Today we follow our route back to Lama Hotel, the trail goes with a few short exceptions most of its way downwards, descending around 1400 meter back to Lama Hotel (5 hrs).
For variation we will follow the so called ‘high’-route back to Syarubesi. This trail splits of the route we took upwards shortly after leaving Lama Hotel. The route goes to the small village of Syarpagaon, and continues onto Bhanjyanggaon and Khangjung before descending back to Syabrubesi. This was the primary route to Langtang before the new trail (which we followed on our way up) was build (6 hrs).
We return back from Sybrubeshi to Kathmandu after the breakfast. It takes nearly 6 hours comfortable drive. Overnight stay at hotel.
