Parts of the Everest Short trek goes takes you over 2900 meters. It is common for the travelers to get Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS) while travelling to higher altitude. AMS is caused due to reduced air pressure and reduced oxygen level at high elevation. The risk of AMS can be alleviated by allowing the body to adjust to the thin air of the mountain by acclimatization. Your safety is our paramount concerns. Welcome to the beautiful Himalayan country Nepal. Upon your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, we will receive you and assist you with the transfer to the hotel. After the Hotel check in, we will have a short orientation about the trek and complete any outstanding formalities for the trek. After the short briefing, you are free to rest in the comfort of your hotel or stroll around to explore your surroundings. In the evening you will be picked up for a welcome dinner to enjoy authentic Nepali dishes along with a beautiful cultural program.
After enjoying the breakfast, we get ready for the guided tour in the Bhaktapur City. The Bhaktapur City is listed in UNESCO ‘s World Heritage Sites and boasts rich Medieval Newari art and architectures. The Temples and Palaces have intricately carved arts and designs showing the perfect fusion of Hindu and Buddhist cultures. We will have plenty of time to explore the city at our own pace. After the guided tour around the artistic city of Bhaktapur, We will be met by our guide for the rest of the trek. He will give us a final briefing for the final trek preparation.
In the early morning, we will be transferred to the domestic airport for our most scenic, 30 minute flight to Lukla, the entrance into the Solu Khumbhu region. The flight to Lukla is a very exciting flight as we fly parallel to the beautiful panorama of the gigantic Himalayan Mountains. In Lukla, we will meet our porters who will be carrying our equipments throughout the trek. We explore the villages before we start our trek to Phakding.The trek to Phakding starts with a descent towards the Dudh Kosi River through terraced hillsides filled with several Buddhist Prayers stones and colorful prayer flags. We will soon join the main trail to Namche Bazaar, the starting point for many great adventures. We enjoy an easy walk through beautiful villages of Chheplung (2650) and Ghat (2550m) before reaching our lodge at Phakding. We will have plenty of time to troll and explore the local lifestyle of the village. (3 hrs)
We start our trek from Phakding walking through a beautiful blue pine and rhododendron forest which is spectacular during spring when the flowers are in bloom. We walk along the Dudh Koshi River and cross many suspension bridges, one of which is the famous Hillary Suspension Bridge. We cross the Dudh Kosi River at the end of Phakdingma enjoying great views of the snow-capped peaks of Kusum Kanguru (6369m) and Thamserku (6623m). We pass through several settlements in Benkar, Chumoa and Monjo before reaching the check post at the entrance of Sagarmatha National Park. We descend steeply to cross the Dudh Koshi towards the village of Jorsale (2805), the last village before reaching Namche Bazaar. The trail continues upstream through the forests and bridges to reach the confluence of the Dudh Koshi and Bhote Koshi rivers. After a final steep ascent of about two hours we get the first sight of Mt. Everest as it peeks over the Lhotse-Nuptse ridge. A slow and steady pace is recommended in this section of the climb as we are encouraged to relish the beauty of the stunning mountain vista. At Namche we stay in a lodge in the heart of the village. (6:30 hrs)
Temple horns and yak bells awaken us to a sunrise surrounded by the charming snowy mountains. Today is an acclimatization day at Namche bazaar. Namche is a prosperous and lively village in the Everest Region. The village gained its popularity during the salt trade with the Tibet. It is recommended that we take the opportunity to see both the sunrise and the sunset over the beautiful Himalayan vista from the national park headquarters and from the Everest view hotel while we are in Namche. After breakfast there are a variety of activities to do in Namche. We can enjoy a great view of majestic mountains with a little walk from the bazaar or we can visit the national park headquarters to explore the unique culture and lifestyle of Sherpas. We spend the night at Namche.
After a hearty breakfast in Namche, we set out towards Tengboche, enjoying splendid views of Mount Everest, Ama Dablam, Nuptse, Lhotse, and close up view of Thamserku. From Namche, the well-worn Everest trail contours around the side of the valley high above the Dudh Kosi. The trail eventually reaches Kyang Juma, which is the major trail junction to Gokyo valley and Everest Base Camp. The track traverse through the pine forests, prayer flags, Mani stones and suspension bridge over the Dudh Koshi River before reaching Phunki Thanga(3250m), a small settlement with a couple of tea houses. From here we gear up for a slightly tougher climb through the pine forest and the colorful Mani stones to reach the Tengboche Monastery,the biggest Buddhist Monastery of the Khumbu region. The view from here is deemed to be one of the world’s most magnificent views of the mountains such as Kwangde (6187m), Tawachee (6542m), Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse (8501m), Ama Dablan, Kantega and Thamserku. Overnight stay at a lodge at Tengboche Village. (5 hrs)
We start our trek from Tengboche with a steep descent to the suspension bridge at Phunkitenga. After relaxing in Phunkitenga or a while we cross the Dudh Koshi river and ascend to Tashinga. The trail retraces it’s way back to Sansa and Namche Bazaar. We take our lunch at Namche to enjoy the charm of the bazaar for the final time. We steeply descend along the Bhote Koshi River towards Jorsale where we will spend the night.(6hrs)
We start our last day of the trek along the Dudh Koshi river. It is a easy walk across several suspension bridges and settlements.The final ascent from Chheplung takes us to Lukla, where we stretch our fatigued body and recall the experiences of the last few days. We will spend our last night in the Everest region in Lukla.
We take an early morning flight to Kathmandu. We can rest and relax in leisure throughout the day at our hotel in Kathmandu. This is a perfect day to visit the places we had missed earlier in Kathmandu or do some souvenir shopping around Thamel. We provide extra drive and drop services anywhere in Kathmandu.
