We will be ready to hit the trail after a short tea break at Birethanti, a large prosperous village besides the river Modi Khola. The trail follows the main street of Birethanti through mixed forests, terraces, thin settlement and paddy fields along up the river Bhurjung Khola (river). Passing through a pasture used by pony caravans, the trail reaches green terraced Gurung village called Hille, where we will enjoy our lunch. After the lunch, we gradually climb up the valley passing through Tirkhedhunga to reach Ulleri. We rest our first night of the trek in this spectacular view point ridge to prepare ourselves for next day’s trek to Ghorepani (4:30 hrs).
After an energizing breakfast in the morning, this trek gently ascends up to Nagethani viewpoint. We follow the historic trade route to Tibet through stone layered Gurung cottages, streams, mixed forests with chirping birds and butterflies. Along our way through refreshingly cool Oak and rhododendron forest, we will be encountering caravans of ancient transportation of mules. After few hours of walk from Banthanti, we will be able to enjoy the fantastic views of Dhaulagiri and Annapurna Himalayan range. The admirable natural beauty and scenery of the place will boost our energy and help us to climb up the steep steps to Ghorepani. Ghorepani is also one of the most popular viewpoints in Nepal. This place always welcomes with spectacular Mountain panorama of Dhaulagiri I (8167m), Tukuche Nilgiri (6940m), Annapurna South, Annapurna I (8091m), Hiunchuli (6441m) and Nilgiri (7193m). The lunch can be taken on the scenic balcony at Ghorepani. In the winter this place gets lots of snow adding extra fun to the trek. Our day trek to Ghorepani provides plenty of time to rest, relax or troll around to meet local people (4 hrs.)
We start early to Poon hill (3210 meters) to view a spectacular sunrise over the panorama of mountains like Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, Fishtail, Nilgiri in the spectacular dawn. After taking the views of these panoramic sceneries, we return back to Ghorepani to enjoy our breakfast and start our trek to Tadapani. We leave Tadapani after a breakfast for the interesting walk to join the main Ghandrung to Chomrong route. The route offers good views of the upper Kimrong Khola valley filled with terraces of millet and buckwheat along the thatched roof cottages of Gurung people. The path ascends over the North bank of the Kimrong Khola parallel to the Kimrong Danda to reach the fine-looking Gurung village of Chhomrong (2210m). We will have excellent view of HimChuli, Fishtail and soaring Annapurna South from Chhomrong . Chhomrong is the best place to experience the Gurung hospitality. From Sinuwa, the trail runs through thick & dark rhododendron forest up to Khuldighar and then steps down to the Bamboo through the rocky cliff. From here on, we can expect snow in the post winter months (Feb-April). From Bamboo the road will take us through deep bamboo and rhododendron forests stepping on the slippery roots of Rhododendron trees to Doban where we take shelter. The trail to Doban is an exciting trek through moderately humid forest trails (2540m). (6hrs).
We silently walk through a dense forest from Dovan to Himalaya Hotel at 2840meters. We can see many water falls during the journey from Dovan to Himalaya Hotel. This trail gives a glimpse of the great mountain views through the Annapurna Mountain Gorges. We continue our walk to Hinko Cave (3100m) after paying homage to a Barahi (Goddess of Forest) by offering branches of leaves and ringing the bells for the best of Luck. We walk onto Deurali crossing numerous old avalanches and the pastures. If Luck prevails we will be able to see interesting wildlife. Tonight we will rest in Deurali enjoying magnificent view of Machhapuchhare mountain ridges (6997m)
The trail becomes more levelled as we pass through old avalanche debris to an open meadow that leads to the Annapurna Sanctuary. After 3 hours walk, we reach out lodge at Machhapuchhre Base Camp to enjoy our lunch. From here we will have an opportunity to enjoy a spectacular view of Annapurna I and II, Gangapurna and Machhapuchhre. The afternoon is free to enjoy the truly spectacular scenery of the surrounding peaks. To fully appreciate this magical location and aid acclimatization, we spend an extra day at the base camp and explore its surrounding area. (3hrs)
We begin our walk towards the Annapurna Base camp in the wee hours of morning. The path up to the base camp is very pleasant as we gently stroll along the river through tranquil meadows with many boulders to rest upon and gaze in awe at the surrounding peaks. Slow and steady walk is recommended to avoid the negative affect of the increasing altitude. The view becomes more and more impressive as we approach the Annapurna Base Camp. Once we reach the ABC, we can enjoy the panorama of breath taking view as Annapurna I rears above a rubble covered glacier while to the south Himchuli and Annapurna South soars high whilst Machhapuchhre (Mt. Fishtail) flaunts its splendid beauty. (2:00 hrs)
After enjoying an ecstatic sunrise view of the Mountains from the Base Camp, we retrace our way back to Bamboo following the bank of Modi River. From Annapurna Base Camp the route rapidly descends past the Machhapuchhre Base camp, Deurali, Himalayan Hotel and Doban finally reaching Bamboo. It’s easier to follow our way back as we descend most part of our route enjoying the beautiful mountain vista. (6hrs)
The route passes through spectacular forest of rhododendron flowers, oaks and bamboo. We stop for Lunch at Sinuwa enjoying the view soaring Himchuli, Fishtail and Annapuran south. From Sinuwa the trail descends through forests until Chhomrong Khola and starts to ascend through numerous stone steps to Chhomrong. We then head down towards Peaceful Jhinudanda. Here we have great afternoon to dip into the Natural Hot Spring to relax our muscles. (5 hrs)
We start walking down to local Kimrong Villages along the Modi River through forest. The trail heads down to the Kyumi river bridge as we spot wildlife like Monkeys, deer and the colorful butterflies on the way. The trail moves up to Ghandruk villages passing through the several terrace farms. Ghandruk is inhibited by the Gurung community known for their bravery. Ghandruk is a beautiful village with rich cultural and natural beauty.(4:30 hrs)
Today, we enjoy the last day of our trek in the magnificent Annapurna region. We walk down the stone paved path in the middle of the terrace farms to Syaulebazar. We can enjoy the beautiful rhododendron flowers and take a last look at this beautiful region. We walk through the rough motor able trail down to Birethanti before concluding our beautiful trek in Nayapool. We drive back to Pokhara in a private van. We will have plenty of time to explore and relax in the beautiful city of Pokhara.
After Breakfast, we get ready for an exciting 6 hour long drive back to Kathmandu. We go back to our hotel in Kathmandu to relax our exhausted body after the tiring yet beautiful trek.
