Amadablam is one of the most beautiful mountains in the Khumbhu Region and the Island peak is a  rehearsal peak before climbing the great Mount Everest The Amadalam Everest Base Camp Trek is a journey  to reach the base camp of these three glorious mountains. Although Everest Base Camp is the main highlight for many of the trekkers, the trip to Amadablam base camp leaves a strong impression on many. This fascinating trip to the base camps of the world’s most beautiful mountain, Ama Dablam, offers superb views of Mount Everest, Ama Dablam, Nuptse, Lhotse and Kangtega.

Day 01 : Arrival in Kathmandu

Welcome to vibrant Kathmandu where our Nepal adventure begins. Upon our arrival at the Tribhuvan International Airport, we will be transferred to our hotel in Kathmandu.  After the hotel check in, we will have a short trek orientation to fulfill any outstanding trekking formalities. After the brief orientation,  we are free to repose in the comfort of our hotel or wander around to explore the lively surroundings. In the evening, we will be picked up to enjoy the welcome dinner along with a cultural program in an authentic Nepali restaurant.  Overnight in Kathmandu.

Day 02: Half Day Cultural Sightseeing in Kathmandu

Today we enjoy a guided tour of the ancient cities of Kathmandu Valley. We visit the various places listed in UNESCO world heritage sites in Kathmandu valley.  Kathmandu valley flaunts numerous shrines, palaces and temples which have spiritual, cultural and architectural value. The intricately carved arts and designs of these architectures built medieval era reflects the unique Hindu and Buddhist influences. We can explore this cultural city in our own pace. After the tour, we will meet our guide who will brief us regarding the trek and help us with our final preparation for the trek.

Day 03: Flight to Lukla/ Start Trek to Phakding (2650 m)

We rise early to be transferred to the domestic airport to catch our scenic flight to Lukla, the entrance into the Solu Khumbu. The 30 to 40 minutes flight from Kathmandu to Lukla is full of spectacular views of the eastern Himalayas. We will meet our rest of the crew members at Lukla. After exploring the new mountain atmosphere for some time, we start our trek to Phakding. We start our trek with a descent towards the Dudh Koshi river along the stone fences and terraced farmlands.  As we follow the trail  we’ll pass mani walls, boulders carved with Tibetan Buddhist prayer inscriptions before reaching Phakding. Today, we have a short and easy walk to Phakding to adjust our body to the sudden rise in elevation. (3 hrs)

Day 04: Phakding to – Namche Bazaar (3450m)

After a breakfast, we start from Phakding to the famous town of Namche wandering through rolling terrain, traditional homes, plowed fields and pine and cedar forests. We pass through beautiful forest of blue pine, juniper an rhododendron to cross a bridge at the end of Phakdingma. We enjoy the magnificent views of Kusum Kanguru and Thamserku as we take ascent towards Monjo. A little further from Monjo, we reach the entrance of the Sagarmatha National park, where our trekking permits are checked. From here, the trail abruptly takes a steep descent to cross a suspension bridge at Jorsale (2805m). Beyond Jorsale the trail takes us through an undulated path  up until the confluence of Bhote Koshi and Dudh Koshi rivers is reached. We walk further from the bridge enjoying the pleasant view of Everest peeking over the Lhotse and Nuptse wall to reach the lively town of Namche. A Slow and steady walk is recommended to enjoy the today’s trek as we will get plenty of photographic opportunities with the peaks like Everest , Lhotse, Nuptse and Taweche coming into the view for the first time. (6.30 hrs)

Day 05 : Acclimatization Day in Namche Bazaar

Temple horns and yak bells wake us to a sunrise surrounded by snowy summits in Namche. Today is acclimatization day in Namche bazaar. Namche is the largest Sherpa village and has long been the primary staging area for major Himalayan expeditions. Namche Bazaar is the main trading center of the Khumbu region and has government offices, Internet cafes, lodges, shops, restaurants, ATMs, bakeries and a colorful market every Friday and Saturday. The extra day at Namche is a great opportunity to view the stunning sunrise and sunset over the eastern Himalayas from the national park headquarter. After the breakfast, we will hike out of the village bowl to Shyangboche for a spectacular panorama of  Everest, Amadablam, Lhotse, Tawoche, Peak 38 and Thamsherku. We can also visit the Sherpa Museum at the national park headquarter to explore about the Sherpa’s lifestyle and culture.

Day 06 : Namche to Tengboche (3860m)

After a breakfast in Namche, we start our trek towards the village of Tengboche, enjoying wonderful views of Mt. Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Ama Dablam and Thamserku. We follow an undiluted path through collection of mani stones to Kenjoma to join the trail from Khumjung. The path eventually reaches Sanasa, from where the trail follows through the pine forests and cross a bridge over the Dudh Koshi River to reach  Phunki Thanga. Beyond Phunki Thanga, the trail climbs steeply through forests and mani stones to reach a meadow on which sits the famous monastery of Tengboche(3870m). Tengboche is a great place for the magnificent view of  the Himalayan giants such Kwangde (6187m), Tawachee (6542m), Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse (8501m), Ama Dablan, Kantega and Thamserku. We will spend our night in Tengboche village. (5hrs)

Day 07: Tengboche to Pangboche (3920 m)

After a breakfast at Tengboche, we start downhill through the dense forest of rhododendron, juniper and birch. We may see some wildlife such as Musk Deer and Himalayan Tahr. After crossing the Imja Khola on a swaying suspension bridge high above the roaring river, the trail climbs past some brilliantly carved mani stones and rhododendron forest to Pangboche (3901m). Pangboche is the highest valley to have a year-round settlement. We’ll enjoy the opportunity to visit the Pangboche Monastery, the oldest monastery in the Everest region. Pangboche village gives us a opportunity to explore the Sherpa’s culture, lifestyle and spirituality. (4hrs)

Day 08: Hike up to Amadablam Base Camp Back to Pangboche

After a breakfast at Pangboche, we cross a temporary bridge over the Imjatse river to climb up to Amadablam base Camp (4500m). We pass several meadows, yak herds, sheep farms and camps before reaching the base camp. The spectacular  view of the majestic Everest, Amadablam, Lhotse, Kantega and other peaks welcomes us to the base camp. The off beaten path to the Amadablam base camp is truly rewarding with its spectacular views. We enjoy our warm cup of tea and head back to Pangboche for our night stop.(5hrs)

Day 09: Pangboche to Dingboche (4345m)

We start from Pangboche by walking through alpine meadows above the tree line.  We walk on the ridge along the Imjatse river through the village of Sommare. We cross the Imjatse river to gradually climb up to the windswept potato fields of Dingboche village. Dingboche is the valley made by the Imjatse river flowing from the Island peak. We spend our night in the lap of the beautiful Mountain Amadablam and Kantega.( 5 hrs ).

Day 10: At Dingboche Excursion to Chhukung Ri / Island Peak Base Camp after the lunch

Today we hike up to  the view point  Chhukung Ri and Island peak base camp where we will be enjoying the close views of Island Peak, Makalu, Lhotse, Everest and other peaks. We initially walk along the flat and rough path until the trail begins to turn uphill to the base camp and Chukkung Ri (4900m). The hike to Island Peak base camp and Climbing Chhukung Ri gives plenty of time to acclimatization.  This should help the body acclimatize more effectively, as the next three days bring ever more increasing challenges. (6 hrs)

Day 11: Dingboche to Lobuche (4950 m)

We start from Dingboche with an ascent along a small ridge behind the village above Pheriche valley. As we come to Dusa, the valley begins to narrow and we continue through Phulung Karpo, the campsite of the first successful Everest Expedition in 1953. As the trail descends and curves, Mt. Pumori disappears from view and we come across a small wooden bridge to ascend to Duglha. T Dughla (4620m) we take a light lunch  and climb steadily to reach a ridge line of memorial cairns for  mountaineers who have lost their lives in Everest expeditions.  The view of Pumori, Lingtren, Khumbutse and Changtse is wonderful from this point of the trail. We follow the stream into the valley to stop at our lodge  in Lobuche. (5 hrs)

Day 12: Lobuche to Gorakhshep / Excursion to Everest Base Camp

The trail to Gorak Shep goes ahead through the lateral moraine of the Khumbu Glacier. The ascent becomes  steeper and more rough as it crosses several moraines to reach the top of Changri Glacier where we catch our first glimpse of Kala Patthar, a grey -green knoll beneath the Mt. Pumori.  The trail then makes short descent onto the sandy fat expanse of Gorak Shep.As we reach Gorak Shep, we will find snow-capped mountains looming all around us.  We will continue walking to the current Everest Base camp. We cannot view  the great mount Everest from the base camp but the Base camp of the grand expeditions has it’s own unique charm. We will return o the small settlement of Gorak Shep after our visit to the base camp. (6 hrs).

Day 13 : Hike up to Kalapathar and trek back to Pheriche

In the early morning, we can go on a hike to Kalapathar where we can enjoy the close up view of the Mount Everest. The sunrise view from Kala Pathar is one of the best views of the Everest.  After savoring the beautiful views, we retrace our way back to Gorakshep.  After the breakfast at Gorak Shep, we retrace our steps back to Pheriche via Dughla.  (5 hrs).

Day 14 : Pheriche to Kyangjuma(3650m)

We start from Pheriche with a short ascent to the top of a small ridge for great views of Imja Valley, Amadablam and Kantega. After reaching Orsho, we descend to Shomare to pass through lower Pangboche and cross a bridge over the Imja Khola River. We retrace our steps back to Deuche and Tengboche. From Tengboche, we descend steeply to the suspension bridge at Phunki Thenga, where e will stop for  a lunch. We then cross the Dudh Koshi river ad ascend to Tashinga to walk above the valley  through Shanasa before reaching Kyangjuma. (5.30 hrs)

Day 15: Trek to Phakdingma

We slowly head back to Phakdingma through the busy Namche bazaar. We descend to the bridge at Jorsale through the rough forest trail. We take ascent to reach the national park check point right before reaching Monjo. We cross a long suspension bridge and gradually go downhill to Phakdingma. Today we enjoy a short and easy walk  to enjoy the beautiful scenery of mountains and terrace farmlands.  (4hrs)

Day 16: Trek to Lukla

We enjoy every bit of our last day trekking as slowly retrace our way back to Lukla. We walk  from Phakding along the side of the Dudh Koshi river  to take our final ascent to Lukla. Lukla is famous for its end of the trek celebrations. We will enjoy the fun mood of the Lukla but head to the bed early to get ready for an early flight to Kathmandu tomorrow. (3hrs)

Day 17: Fly to Kathmandu / Leisure in Kathmandu

We wake up early to get ready for an exciting flight from Lukla to Kathmandu. Taking off from the Lukla airstrip is an exhilarating experience and our last look at the snowy Himalayas is bittersweet. Upon our arrival in Kathmandu, we get transferred to our comfortable hotel. The leisure is an ideal time for relaxing our exhausted muscles with a spa or a massage  in the Kathmandu. At night we can celebrate our success of the trek with a party at a happening place in the Kathmandu.

Day 18: Leisure in Hotel in Kathmandu

Kathmandu valley has numerous shrines, temples and Palaces with artistic and cultural value.  Leisure time in Kathmandu is an ideal time to visit any missed out destinations in the Kathmandu valley. We can also opt to have an experienced guide to escort us to these historic places. This is also a great time to go shopping for the souvenirs. Day 19: Departure Transfer

It is  finally time to bid goodbye to the delightful country. We get transferred to Tribhuvan international airport for our departure to the next destination. We play the pleasant memories of our adventure in our mind as we bid farewell to the beautiful country.
