You Should Go Trekking

It’s something different

You can’t find an activity much more different than trekking. Not only is it outside in the elements, whereas most people seem to prefer staying indoors, but you’re doing something that sets you apart from other people. Not many people can say they’ve been trekking near or at the Himalayas.

Nature calls

Sometimes getting back to nature gives you a new lease on life. You’ll get to experience flowing rivers, enjoy the scenery, hear the sounds and the quiet of nature, and revel in the fresh air. All things you don’t tend to experience when you’re in your living room with a partypoker game, and a nature show on in the background.

Take photos

Trekking is a photographers delight. You only have to look through a trekkers website to understand what the draw is to take snaps. The views are always spectacular, and you’ll see sights you can’t get anywhere else. Make sure you have enough battery and room on your memory card though, because you won’t know what to snap first.

Good exercise

You cannot go trekking if you are unfit. Well, you can, but you probably won’t get very far without breaking a sweat. Trekking is an amazing test for your muscle endurance. There are going to be times when you feel like you can’t go any further, but in reality you can take that extra step. And the next time you go, you’ll be even better prepared and fit.

The view

On the way up the mountain, you can start to grow weary and agitated. The complaints start up: “I’m tired!”, “My legs hurt!” and “Are we there yet?” The tiredness and the aches and pains are worth it once you’re up there though. The view from the top is stunning. You’ll never feel like you do up there ever again.
